Prohibited Possessors: Arizona Gun Laws |
Title 18 U.S.C. §922(g) prohibits any person listed in §§922(g)(1) -
(9), convicted felons, drug addicts, illegal aliens, etc.1 from
shipping or transporting in interstate or foreign commerce or from
receiving any firearm or ammunition which has been shipped or
transported in interstate or foreign commerce or from possessing, in or
affecting commerce, any firearm or ammunition. This latter prohibition
is widely known as the "felon in possession of a firearm" statute.
There are three elements which must be proven in order to obtain a
conviction under §922(g): a prior felony conviction, "knowing"
possession of a "firearm" as defined at section 13.02, supra,2 which
has "affected" interstate commerce.
