The City of Peoria Municipal Court is responsible for the expedient adjudication of criminal misdemeanors, criminal and civic traffic violations, Injunctions Prohibiting Harassment and Orders of Protection that occur within the city limits.
It is the court's responsibility to safeguard the rights of the accused, the victim, and the interest of the public. The Municipal Court Judge is appointed by the Mayor and Council.
Where are you located?
The Peoria Municipal Court is located at the City Hall Complex on 83rd Avenue between Peoria and Olive Avenues. Visitor parking is located off East Cinnabar on the upper level parking garage. The Court build is the building closest to 83rd Avenue, next to the Technology Building.
What hours is the Court open? When can I see a judge in person?
The Court is open Monday through Friday, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. For most traffic tickets, people are scheduled for "Open Court" on Tuesday between 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at which time you may speak with the judge. Whenever the court is open, there are also court clerks who may be able to answer questions or provide information, but remember, clerks are not allowed to give legal advice, only information.
